wow...the first line grabs you immediately. the idea of darkness swelling is a scary thought. when something swells, it gets bigger and overtakes something. usually gets more painful as it grows, too. that is kind of how most your series go. the storyline becomes more and more painful, and characters are only able to step into the light for a short time before plunging in deep once more. something i always liked about your writing: you make me eager for the moment the light is found again.
